Rubi Yarez

I am a long time resident of Yamhill County and moved to Sheridan at the end of 2021. I moved here with my husband, our cats, and dog. My volunteerism in Sheridan began prior to moving to the area by joining the Sheridan Tree of Giving Board of Directors in fall of 2021. After moving to Sheridan, I worked closely with the Sheridan School District through my position as Service Integration Specialist by ensuring that Sheridan School District was informed of resources available to families. This led to an opportunity for me to apply for an open position on the budget committee and ultimately to become part of the school board. A little about myself, I am a head start program graduate and attended Dayton school district, which is similar to Sheridan in being a rural and small school. I obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Community Health Education through Western Oregon University. I am the first of my family to have graduated from high school and obtain a 4 year degree/higher education. I could not have accomplished these two things without the support of my family, friends, and school staff. It is my hope that students feel supported and empowered as they pursue their dreams.
